Levitikus is comprised of four members: Our front-man Avi Fried, composer,
guitarist and lead vocalist, gives Levitikus it's hardcore edge that makes this band
so unique in the Jewish music scene; Moshe Gottlieb, composes some of
Levitikus' best tunes and plays a diverse style of keyboard; and finally Gershon
Braun and Mendy Katz serve as the backbones of this band - Gershon with his
tight and electrifying drumming technique, and Mendy with his gifted
self-taught bass playing, both bringing this band to a higher professional level.

Avi and Moshe met each other in Yeshiva in Miami FL during the school year of
03'-04'. Quickly recognizing each others' musical talents and abilities, they
immediately began writing songs together that would eventually change the
whole perception of the Jewish-American rock scene as it was until then. These
innovative compositions reflected their goals to create the first Jewish band that
would base its music solely on classic and modern rock. As their musical abilities
couldn't go unnoticed, the Yeshiva as well as the community made it a point to
hire Avi and Moshe to perform at all sorts of local functions whenever possible.
Although not yet known as the band Levitikus, Avi and Moshe emerged from
that school-year in 2004 with a slew of compositions, and many hours of stage
experience.

Realizing that this could be the start of something big, they constantly talked
and planned of ways to promote their multifaceted project. They spent the next
two years writing and perfecting their music and auditioning many musicians
before they took on Gershon and Mendy to complete the coolest
Jewish-American rock band. By the summer of 2006 they decided it was time to
start recording some tracks for a debut album - which was eventually released in
the summer of 2007!

As the summer of 2009 is upon us, the band is preparing for their upcoming
performances, and we look forward to seeing all of you in the crowd!

Leviticus (the 3rd of the five books of Moses) is all about Korbanos (sacrifices)
in the Bais Hamikdash (Holy Temple). Korbanos are a way of connecting us
human beings in a physical world to a higher, non-physical power; namely
God. Nowadays we unfortunately do not have the Bais Hamikdash any more.
But one can still connect with God through prayers and through beautiful
music. It was on this ideology that we named our band Levitikus, based on our
constant objective to connect with the one and only.
